Research on the Translation Ethics of Mao Zedong's Poems: Taking Differences as Differences

Abstract:

In recent years attention has been increasingly paid to translation ethics, which affects the motivation and practice of translation. In this study, the translation ethics in a few English versions of Mao Zedong’s poems was analyzed. It was found that flexible strategies were adopted to translate the numerals and allusions, which are characteristics of Mao’s poems. From the perspective of translation ethics, fidelity to the original work, serving the readers of the translation language, and intercultural communication were successfully fulfilled.
